CEPHALOPODS

Octopus (Octopus vulgaris)

The octopus has a tender body with a well developed brain and eight tentacles. These tentaclres have two rows of suckers.
There are a lot of octopus fishing techniques, but the most useful in our costa is the one called “cajirones” (mud recipients), which consist in uniting several cajirones in a strong rope and use them to atract and catch the octopus.
This rosary of recipients is placed in the bottom of the sea (called ”type longline”) and let the octopus enter themselves. At the next day the recipients are taken off alongside with the octopus and carried to our facilities, in which we extraxct its vicerae, clasify them by weight and size, and put them into a container individually or in a 10 Kg. Progression aprox. The product is freezed and later, sent for sell.
